  • Curry County

    • Amber Jordan (Core Advocate, Oasis Advocacy & Shelter)

      • Oasis is OPEN! Capacity allows serving 8 survivors at a time due to COVID.

      • Working on organizing monthly awareness modules (sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, etc).

      • Establishing a resiliency program offering survivor support (empowerment, confidence building, yoga, support groups, etc).

      • Youth program development for GBHS (safety, boundaries, etc).

      • Marketing materials in progress.

      • Sheltering Animals and Families Together program in progress – rallying organizations and community partners to help with housing large or exotic pets to eliminate barriers for survivors.

      • Fresh Food for Seniors program – seniors over 60 with limited income can receive a bag of fresh fruits/vegetables each week. Started with 45 clients/month, now up to 110/month.

      • COVID wrap around services continue – education, vaccine clinics with community partners. Hoping for 2 vaccine clinics in March, more to come.

      • Snack pack program continues.

      • Plant a Row program is coming up for local gardeners! This will supplement the Fresh Food for Seniors program

    • Beth Barker-Hidalgo (Curry County Homeless Coalition, director@curryhomelesscoalition.org)

      • Welcomed a new Board member, Melinda Schwartz.

      • 2 new staff – p/t outreach specialist, finance director

      • Serving on the statewide CBO advisory council (for households/individuals impacted by COVID) – pulling together letters to legislators for continued funding for CBOs

      • Operating non-congregate shelter for households (medically fragile, 62+, families with children)

      • MOU creating partnership with NB Coos/Curry Housing Authority to partner to deliver emergency housing vouchers for Curry County

    • Jen Shafer (Zonta Club of Coos Bay Area) – scholarships for Coos students available! Due March 15, see https://zontacoosbayarea.org/scholarships/

    • Erlette Upshaw (Coos Elderly Services, erletteu@cooselderly.org) – CES is a CBO for Coos County. Funding running low so have changed to partial utility payments. OHA will be shipping PPE and test kits to CBOs if organizations are in need.
