  • Sam Baugh - Advanced Health - https://advancedhealth.com/

    • Completed the Community Health Assessment in 2023 and will now will be working on a Community Health Plan

    • Community focus groups and distilling that information into actionable steps to work on. Action items of “what can we accomplish?”

    • Serve Coos & Curry counties. CHIP for both counties

    • Part of ESD - Provide completely free training around adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)

    • completed over 40 trainings in 2023 and 10 scheduled Jan - March 2024

    • Help That Helps guide , coloring books, being translated into Spanish

  • Jim Behrends - North Bend Senior Center - https://northbendseniorcenter.org/ 20,000 program visits last year

    • goal is to maintain and grow it 800 different sessions

    • Keep the NBSC in mind as a way to provide services to the elder community

    • 14,000 free meals

    • Best way to connect is join their lunch time and visit. Multiple visits are often required to make connections and get traction, it can take time for people to engage.

    • Should be able to keep it going through 2024

  • Michael Mulligan - Parkinson’s Resources of OR - https://www.parkinsonsresources.org/ 2023 saw a healthy growth

    • over 52 support groups

    • Peer to Peer mentoring program has been a big success

    • 2024 looking forward to more in-person events

    • Light up a Life to help with grief and loneliness through the holidays

    • Hired new nurses which increases the amount of caseloads that can be handled

    • Getting the volunteers running again - there are volunteer trainings - If you are interested in volunteering to visit with patients in their homes or facilities reach out

    • Thrift store always needs volunteers

    • Help the underserved find the services that match where they are at, most are recovery focused

    • 6 Peers now working with many community partners

    • Go out to different areas 1 day a month and administer to the needs

  • Val Early - South Coast Community Aquatics - sccabrookings@gmail.com

    • Provide year round opportunity for swimming in the Brookings pool

    • Partnered with the City of Brookings to provide programming and support for the facility

    • Non-profit - volunteer board

    • 2023 was great for collecting data examples: how many pool users there were during the 3 month season (over 10,000) - Also did a survey at the end of the season that gave good feedback that will help with the programming in 2024

    • 2024 looking to manage the pool for the City of Brookings (Looking at a longer season)

    • Would like to continue partnerships with the schools and other organizations that have helped to support water safety and provide lessons and safe recreational opportunities for the community and youth

    • Since Curry county is home to 5 wild rivers and the Pacific ocean water safety is a prominent concern

    • Plans to train a lifeguard instructor

    • Served over 600 families in Coos and County by hosting 21 workshops and 50 community led hike events

    • Goal is to help families with young children and babies get outside and move

    • Happy to partner with other organizations and have resources like guides and family fun activities available in English and Spanish and Arabic and working on more languages when there is more funding

    • In Coos there is Gear library for families to access and borrow jackets, rain boots, baby carriers etc.

    • We also have Facebook groups for Coos & Curry where the community can share events, ask questions, etc.

    • All things food - up and coming organization

    • 2023 started a Farm to Child program which is like Farm to School - renovating and creating gardening spaces for youth to learn about food, gardening, agriculture, where food comes from and how to grow their own food

    • Started Coos Food Project which is neighborhood run - donation and food pantries

    • Community supported agriculture scholarships to Myrtle Glen Farm

    • Started Double up Food Bucks at the Co-Op

    • Community fridge at the Coos Library

    • Food Giveaway called Farm Families at the Bandon Library

    • 2024 Looking forward to doing it all again (even better!) and working on getting 501c3 status

    • The Beet is having monthly meetings if you would like to participate

    • New YouTube channel up and running & Sound Baths for ages 5 - 11 coming soon

    • Typically this was a group of youth and a group of elders coming together to make music but then things changed and so did the programs

    • Working on 27 homes to help with home repairs in Reedsport

    • Partnered with Energy Trust - no cost heat pumps available to qualifying homes

    • New staff member hired - Alex Alonso Godinio (sp?) to help get the heat pumps into homes quickly

    • Applying to be the Douglas/ Coos / Curry representatives for the OR Department of Energy with their heat pump program

    • UW is a funder / fundraiser for Coos and Curry counties and have recently been expanding our programing

        • are running strong they provide tangible needs to youth in care and the families with trainings for resource parents and recruitment opportunities and a variety of other things

      • South Coast Equity Coalition (SCEC) / Jamar Ruff - https://southcoastequity.org/

        • SCEC was awarded OR Health Authority grant

        • Doing great work with our BIPOC, Tribal, LGTBQ, and Disabled communities (Curry & Coos) connecting resources and information

        • Jamar will be joining us next month to present the results of the needs assessment from last year and priorities for 2024

      • Southern Oregon Coast Pride (SOCP) / Laura Erceg - took on SOCP as a sub of SCEC -https://www.socpride.org/

      • We are supporting as a fiscal sponsorship - Coastal Families Relief Nursery (Coos) -https://coastalfamilies.org/ & Warming Curry and many more

      • The newest one is in partnership with Neighbor Works Umpqua, SCREL, Care Connections and few other folks - Child Care Accelerator Program with the goal of training 20 new child care providers in Coos & Curry counties

      • Our grant making program is scheduled to start a week from now

        • $35,000 in general grants with a max of $5,000 each available for operating or program costs

        • We have a small pool of money for mini grants for children, youth, and family programs up to $1,000 & some DEI training

  • Micky Frank Bandon Inclusivity Group - www.bandoninclusivitygroup.com

    • Last year had funding to do a children’s literature program to distribute free books about cultural related picture books

    • Provided set of 4 books to the Head Start program in both counties

    • This year’s funding will focus on literature about disabilities in early June

    • Also working on things for human dignity and human rights

    • Fiscally sponsored by the Greater Bandon Association - still rather new

  • Don Ford - Harmony United Methodist Church - generally like to help in an outreach manner and help where they can

  • Teri Moore - ODHS Self - Sufficiency programs - happy to be attending these meeting again!
