  • RED CROSS

    • Disaster Action Team volunteers needed to assist with single family house fires - coordinate client assistance cards to help with food, clothing, shelter in the first few days immediately after house fire

    • Youth Preparedness program volunteers needed to teach youth K-2, 3-5 about house fire prevention, natural disasters, coping during stressful situations

    • Blood drive ambassadors needed - greet, check in, provide snacks for blood donors

    • Install smoke alarms in residential homes

Also hosting an event this weekend and Brandon welcomes community partner info to share, drop off brochures etc anytime.

  • Allies of BIPOC Communities (ABC) meets the second Tuesday 6-8pm at South Coast Equity Coalition office, 126 Market Ave in Coos Bay and the third Tuesday 6-8pm in Curry County - contact Jamar at equity@unitedwayswo.org for more info

  • System of Care Coos and Curry is finalizing the contract for agile funding, in partnership with United Way, AYA, Curry Homeless Coalition - funds will be available for a variety of uses (housing, furniture, house cleaning, food assistance, heaters, sensory items, etc), stay tuned for more information or contact Pamela Huntley (pamela.huntley@advancedhealth.com). Also partnering with Coos Health & Wellness for second health equity fair in August - more details to come!

  • United Way’s Day of Caring will be held in Coos June 10 and Curry June 17 - details coming soon! Contact Jen with questions.

  • Gordon Clay of Curry County Suicide Awareness and Prevention Council is looking for community input on a mini grant opportunity geared at suicide prevention. Hybrid meeting will be held Thursday 4/13 (5:30-7:30pm) at Brookings Harbor High School. Contact Gordon with input or for more information - gordonclay@aol.com.
