Community Partnerships

United Way of Southwestern Oregon is proud to provide fiscal sponsorship opportunities to local projects and groups who are not registered 501(c)(3) agencies, who are working toward a better community for residents of Coos and Curry Counties.

Our current fiscal sponsor partnerships include:

Every Child Coos County and Every Child Curry County: Every Child is a community mobilization initiative providing love, care and support to foster youth, foster parents, and biological parents in partnership with Oregon’s Department of Human Services. Every Child programs and activities include assembling welcome boxes and launch boxes for foster youth entering and exiting the foster system, volunteer recruitment to support our foster care community, and hospitality services for DHS staff.

Southern Oregon Coast Pride: Southern Oregon Coast Pride exists to conduct events that foster hope and provide support for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, educate about LGBTQIA+ issues and resources, and collaborate with allied individuals and community groups. A note from the organizers:

“After the success of Pride-in-the-Park in 2019, full leadership of the annual event has transitioned into the hands of local community members.  We are gearing up for the 5th annual Pride Celebration on the Southern Oregon Coast, and are looking for support both financially and in terms of people-power.  Follow our Facebook page for information on upcoming fundraisers, community education events, and other chances to get involved.

It is important to the Pride Steering Committee that we maintain the family-friendly environment from last year, and build upon that success by bringing in more vendors, entertainment, and community organizations. Offering a free community meal is also something which sets us apart, and is what we seek to maintain. If you would like to become more involved, please reach out to the committee at:  We welcome your involvement!”

Coos Waffle Project: Coos Waffle Project is an all-volunteer program formed in August 2018 to provide hungry people a free all-you-can-eat brunch of fresh baked waffles and fried eggs every Thursday morning. Coos Waffle Project partners with the Nancy Devereux Center to use their facilities on Thursdays, the day of the week when their facility is closed and free meals are otherwise unavailable. For more information or to volunteer for Waffle Thursdays, visit their Facebook page.

    • Donate to Coos Waffle Project (or mail a check with “Coos Waffle Project” in the memo field to UWSWO, Attn: Coos Waffle Project, PO Box 1288, Coos Bay, OR 97420)

Past fiscal sponsorship projects include Finding Hope: Suicide Awareness and Prevention, a newspaper insert distributed to over 40,000 households in Curry, Del Norte, and Coos Counties in September 2019.

Donations to these programs are managed under the fiscal sponsorship of United Way of Southwestern Oregon, a registered 501(c)(3) with the federal tax identification number 93-0508133.  A tax receipt will be provided for donations where donor information is included.
